Wi-Fi in Witham High Street will “bring shoppers to the town”

Wi-Fi in Witham High Street will “bring shoppers to the town”

This includes set-up costs and a year’s running of the WiFi service, which enables people to connect to the internet through a mobile device, such as a phone.

Chris Lynch, of Rivenhall-based APC Solutions, is looking into introducing WiFi to Witham’s Newland Street.

The company has not got the contract to operate the service, but is looking at viability and options on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce which is spearheading the scheme.

What the company is proposing is only an outline plan, but it would include ten antennas from which the WiFi signal would be projected along the whole of Newland Street as well as the two shopping centres.

The equipment would be A4 size mounted on a pole or building.

Mr Lynch, managing director and founder of the company, said: “We have absolutely been having positive feedback about the idea of having WiFi.

“The proposals we have made are for an adequate signal of WiFi is available throughout the whole of the high street.”
