What is the difference between Bonding and Load balancing? 

Put simply, bonding is a method of increasing capacity and reliability of an internet connection by using multiple connections for a single connection handoff.  Bonding will use all connections within the bonded channel group, it can be selective which connection is used based on real time latency measurements on each individual internet connection ensuring the best possible and most reliable connection.

Load balancing is better described as a failover connection or Primary & Secondary type architecture. Criteria can be set for when the secondary connection kicks in and this can be based on used data or actual Primary failure, the switch over from Primary to Secondary is ‘hitless’ and provides a seamless switchover. Load balancing is ideal for ensuring a backup internet connection is present for those on a limited budget. 

Both solutions are ideal for a rapid deployment scenario or for a situation where mission critical and always on connection is required.   For those clients who require a single static public WAN IP address or multiple IP addresses which do not change regardless of the connection in use (while using the bonding or load balancing method) this can be achieved if specified at the outset.
